Permaculture Project Design
Getting Started
Different Plans For Different Needs
A Permaculture project can take many shapes and follow different timelines. The smallest of project centres around one person and can cover only a few square meters, but the more elements are involved (both living and non-living), the more complex the project can become.
Find what situation suits your needs and you’ll be ready to go !
Standard Garden Plans
Choose a suitable plan and get your project off the ground right away.
On-Demand Plans
For projects that require specific analysis, planning, execution.
Tailor Made Services
Your project is already under way, but needs some fine-tuning to get the results you want.
Standard Garden Plans
Starter Plan
- The starting point is your objective, ressources available and the potential of the project, in order to define the correct setup.
- We focus on relative placement and appropriate sizing of all the elements included, and a planning is established based on your time availability.
- The implementation is done together in one day: the main elements of the Design are put in place, and strategies are devised for you to reach your goal.
The 1-year plan
- After the analysis, the design and the implementation of the garden, monthly work sessions are scheduled over a period of 12 months. These are preceded by 30 minute phone conversations about the evolution of the project, both to analyse and organize the workflow.
- You and your garden will be growing together, and after one year you’ll have a much clearer idea of what is possible, what skills have improved and how your ressources have evolved.
The 3-Year plan
- The 3-year plan involves the redesigning of the project together, every year. Analysis is done to take into account for the evolution of the project on the ground; new plants are introduced to move towards a diverse polyculture, or to account for losses.
- Your skills and knowledge are also improved through ressources made available by the Designer. New elements, living or nonliving, will be included in the global project, within the framework established at the begining of the project.
On-demand Plans
Almost as easy as 1-2-3.
Depending on the Context, a Permaculture project can take many shapes and follow different timelines. The smallest of project centres around one person and can cover only a few square meters, but the more elements are involved (both living and non-living), the more complex the project can become.
Here are a few generic cases that encompass what is possible.
Basic form
Simple form with user-focused questions
Phone Call
Quick introductory call to discuss project’s needs and next steps.
Design Process
Short description of the design process.
Client form
Digging deeper into user’s project’s requirements.

User(s) in Urban Context
Spaces are often rather small, and elements around the project interact actively and passively with it. Quite often, there are regulations and social constraints that limit the range of action.
The focus of Design is on you and the knowledge needed to manage the flow of energies and materials. Proper understanding of zoning will allow you to create beneficial connections between elements.
User(s) in Rural Context
As lots become bigger, our direct intervention concentrates on elements in the area around the house or the farm. Zoning again plays an important role, as to allow the proper management of the project.
Observation of interactions between elements and of natural phenomena is an important aspect of Design, so we focus on what works best and then scale it up.
The goal: finding balance between the productivity of the project and the natural evolution of the ecosystem.
Companies & Non-profit Organizations
The focus shifts to the Human elements. The blueprint is simple: work with Nature, and not against it. This improves work flow and social relationships.
The garden is the best place for finding cohesion and a better understanding of what makes plants, and communities, grow. Permaculture Design provides the right conditions for all elements to thrive.
The objective is to co-design a garden that fits the skills and needs of all the members of the Organization.
Institutions
Human Ecosystems need fine-tuning, and Permaculture Design is all about beneficial connexions. The way a group of people works can be changed by finding “guilds” that function harmoniously, and then replicating that model. Feedback is also used to determine the evolution of the whole system.
The Ethical Energy Audit provides solutions and combinations of elements to be tried and applied on a sensible scale, while making the best use of available ressources.

Life Design through Human Permaculture
Homo Sapiens is by definition a Social Animal. We are not separate from Nature, so the relationships we have with each other follow Natural models.
Human Permaculture provides:
– Relevant knowledge to your climate and situation, to help you fill your needs in an ethical way
– The tools (Constructive Communication, Community building, Project planning) to put your ressources to good use.
– The ethical skills you need to develop to fit within the framework of a Regenerative Ecology project
