Inspired by a quote by Geoff Lawton, I take a unique approach in order to make sure that every participant to this workshop realises what steps to take in learning or practicing Permaculture.
Whatever your questions and your knowledge level are, by providing answers I aim to give everyone relevant answers to their specific situations, while providing a frame that encompasses all the knowledge brought into discussion.
The last part of the workshop is dedicated to linking ideas and exemples to a larger view on Permaculture Design, techniques, strategies and implementation.
Understanding of Universal Patterns
How the Universe functions on the micro and macro levels. How to use that

This special chapter in the Permaculture Designer’s Manual is the heritage of Bill Mollison to Humanity, summing up his unique vision of life events.
We observe and replicate patterns, compacting them to fit into our system but maintaining their complexity to corral the benefits. The objective is to find productive natural patterns and stack them throughout the system, creating sequences of patterned edge events conformed to the landscape.
In order to implement our strategies, we must understand the media we are dealing with—earth, air, water, stone, wind, etc.—and be able to recognize the characteristics they present in differing conditions.
Soil and Compost
The most complex and unique Ecosystem in the Universe.

Understanding how Soil is created through Natural Processes is paramount to any activity on the ground.
The base resource of all life on Earth, soil is a complex ecosystem in itself, the marriage of mineral elements and life forms of varying complexity. Soil needs balance and proper conditions, which we aim to provide by making Compost and Holistic practices.
Compost is as much about content, as it is about the aesthetics and the process of creation: understanding the different cycles of life and death helps to determine which is best suited for your situation.
Soil Decontamination
Sustainable solutions to bring back the balance of life in Soils.

A very delicate problem in many urban and peri-urban environments, where Human impact can be as harmful as it can be beneficial.
It is capital to understand where the imbalance comes from. Zone and Sector analysis is necessary to identify the impact of living and non-living elements.
Once the interactions of elements are understood within the given context, a multitude of techniques can be approached. Within an Integrated Design System, we aim not only at solving current problems, but also preventing them from happening in the future.
Strategy is to be mindfully applied, with cooperation from all the users on the site, with the goal of restoring the health of the Soil.
Application of Design

Permaculture is a function of Systemic Design. Permanent agriculture and permanent human culture are only possible when the systemic connections between living and non-living elements are stable, and systems self-replicate and produce energy in surplus.
The Application of Design is through techniques, strategies and a holistic approach that takes into consideration all elements on site.
Directives are paramount to the order in which we design: Water, Access and Structures.
Experience is gained through practice and case studies. We focus on on-the-ground actions, aiming to accomplish specific goals, while aligning with the core directives of Permaculture.

My Story
Permaculture Design involves a great deal of Humility, and I am blessed to share my love and knowledge of Natural Laws and Universal Patterns with clients and students alike.
Varied experiences in Performing Arts, Cultural environments and even Multinational companies, have allowed me to learn a great deal about managing projects and groups of people towards cohesion and results. My approach to teaching Permaculture is infused with the experience that stems from both success and failure.
Frequently Asked
Can Permaculture Design be applied to my situation ?
Permaculture is an Ethical Design Science that applied to all situation, no matter the scale or location.
Its directives offer insights of what needs to be done in the home, in the community and in the environment.
What are the origins of Permaculture ?
Before developping the concept, the philosophy and directives of Permaculture, Bill Mollison worked with traditional and indigenous peoples from all over the world, and later continued to validate, establish and share that knowledge for the betterment of the living conditions of all beings.
Who can teach Permaculture ?
Permaculture is a copyrighted word, only graduates of Research Institute can teach a Certified Course.
However, everyone from children to elderly citizens can practice and share their knowledge with the world.
Where to start in Permaculture ?
Start wherever you are… Start on a balcony, or in a shared community Garden. Learn from Nature and from books, ask lots of questions, and share your successes and failures with those around you.
I want to integrate Permaculture in my (professional) life, but I don't know how.
Permaculture aligns with the Natural Laws of the Universe, all living system function in an analogical pattern. The three Ethics of Permaculture (Care of the Earth, Care of Living Beings, Return of surplus to the first two ethics) are infused with wisdom to apply to all activities of Human Civilization.
I've tried Permaculture and it didn't work. What gives ?
Permaculture can be translated into a set of Directives to be applied locally, in relation to the given circumstances. Working with an Open System, the Forces of Nature always come into play. That is why the Science of Permaculture Design provides a set of tools to assess phenomena objectively, and to learn from past mistakes.
